Total transformation of a very ordinary brick house in an inner city neighbourhood. We did a rear makeover before the carport. In addition to the carport, the front of house received a major external makeover, plus the old garages were converted to interior space and entry. The external features were similar looking to the deck’s timber, but used aluminium for lower maintenance. To further use ‘raw’ material, the carport is all galvanised steel, in a minimalist style. This was not exactly easy to get through council, as the site is in a character zone, even though the house was not old. Council initially insisted on a gabled roof, but with careful negotiations, the resultant carport was allowed.
