Principal Designer - Peter
Office Manager - Julie
Building Designer - Kaylene
We like working together as a team, respecting each other's strengths and encouraging each other to achieve the best design for you.
Peter manages overall, concentrating mainly on site consults, design, checking and liaison.
Julie, assists Peter with proposals and research and as office manager, keeps all the administration side of things in order.
Kaylene is the 'engine' of the office dealing with detailed design and documentation, with Peter assisting as needed.
Liaising with owners and consultants is mainly Peter, but everyone gets involved.
We prefer to work within our team, but occasionally bring in others if the workload exceeds our capacity.
You will most likely meet the whole team, starting with Peter at the initial consult. This is better, as we all get to know you and appreciate your needs.
Peter started Latemore Design in 1989, initially utilizing sub-contractors as designers and drafters. The business gradually enlarged during the 90's and 2000's, with employees becoming the main personnel.
Peter has over 40 years’ experience, starting with a design degree from UQ in 1978.
He became a QBCC licensed building designer, in the first wave of licensing in 1992. Peter’s wide range of experience gives him highly developed skills and very enhanced understanding of the whole building process.
Peter began in the Queensland government architecture office in 1976. Self-employed since 1980, as designer, documentor, detailer, project manager, contract administrator, estimator, and more.
Peter is passionate about great design, superlative documentation, and sharing with others in the industry. Peter has specialist knowledge of the classic Queenslander.
As the chief designer and principal of the practice, Peter meets all clients, attends all site consults, and oversees all projects.
Peter has been a leader in the use of CAD, (mostly AutoCad) and as a pioneer of 3D (Revit). This developed further, with a world-leading template system in Revit, called QARC4Revit.
Peter is very active in the industry as a life member of BDQ, along with National Trust, and Timber Qld. In the BDQ (Building Design Qld), he has many roles including mentoring others.
Peter regularly speaks at Home Shows.
Julie started in 2006, after quite a bit of experience in admin and reception duties. She has a Certificate IV in administration studies. Julie has much needed advanced skills in managing the office, and she values working in a small collaborative environment. Her multi-tasking abilities are very appreciated!
Julie enjoys the variety of duties in the office, predominately office manager but this includes reception, keeping the many facets of finances in order, controlling project costs, being a PA to us all, and more. She loves meeting all the clients, and gets right into following the development of each project. Currently works up to 2 days per week, depending upon workload.
Julie is an intrinsic team member, and her organization abilities have and continue to transform the place.
Kaylene has been with us since 2007. She had changed career, moving from IT to building design. Kaylene had a Certificate IV in Residential Design and completed the Diploma of Building Design in 2010, officially becoming a building designer. Her fascination with the built environment is a real boost to Latemore Design.
Kaylene’s spends most of her time in Revit, taking projects from concept through design onto working drawings. She especially likes details, which is her ‘fun’ thing! Kaylene is also involved in QARC4Revit, mainly focused on components. She is full-time.
We call Kaylene the 'engine' of Latemore Design, and she is a remarkably fast operator, and an advanced expert in Revit and building design.
